She/her
Are you struggling with mental health challenges that have contributed to feeling down or overwhelmed? Are you experiencing struggles with your self-esteem and within your interpersonal relationships? Perhaps you have experienced a major unexpected stressor or trauma at some point in your life which has since negatively impacted your health and well-being. If you resonate with any of these types of struggles, you are not alone. A multitude of people experience these types of difficulties and the decision to seek support through therapy is one of the bravest steps that you can undertake. I would be honoured to support and guide you through this process. I specifically provide virtual therapy for adults living in Ontario (and potentially outside of Ontario-please inquire) who are experiencing concerns such as relationship struggles, self-criticism, perfectionism, anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, trauma and emotion regulation difficulties. I very much welcome and appreciate working with and learning from individuals with diverse identities and backgrounds.
Approach to Therapy
At EmotionMatters Psychology, we recognize that each individual has a unique life story that is multi-layered. Throughout your journey in life, there are undoubtedly moments of struggle and change which can shape who you are and how you view yourself, your relationships with others, and the world around you. I was drawn towards Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) as a therapeutic approach given it is fundamentally rooted in connecting to our core needs with a focus on exploration and regulation of emotions. As such, EFT helps you to gain clarity, make meaning of your life experiences, and strengthen your sense of self. My goal would be to provide you with a safe and supportive environment to deepen your understanding of these life experiences and connect with your needs to enhance your personal growth as well as improve your emotional well-being. I am specially trained in and can draw upon empirically-supported approaches such as Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical-Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I will work alongside you to create an individualized treatment plan that is flexibly adapted to address your concerns, goals, and needs. You can always reach out to find out more details about my services and if you would like, you can schedule a free consultation call to check out our compatibility for treatment.
My Qualifications
I have completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology at York University and I am currently pursuing licensure through the College of Psychologists of Ontario (via Supervised Practice). During my time at York University, I received specialized training in EFT including supervision from the clinic director who is certified in EFT by the International Society for Emotion-Focused Therapy. Most recently, I completed my pre-doctoral internship through the University of Ottawa, with external rotations at the Ottawa Centre for Resilience (OCFR) and the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships (CFIR). Prior to this, through York University I also completed external practicum placements through the Inpatient OCD Program (Sunnybrook Hospital) and the Youth Wellness Centre (St. Joseph’s Hospital) whereby I provided support to emerging adults experiencing a wide variety of mental health and addictions concerns.
