She/her
I am currently completing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at York University. Through my training at York University, I have gained foundational knowledge and experience in various psychotherapeutic approaches including Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have further strengthened my therapeutic skills through her practicum placements at the York University Psychology Clinic as well as the Women’s Health Concerns Clinic (WHCC) and Sleep Disorders Clinic at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Through my research and assessment experiences at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Borderline Personality Disorder Clinic, I have also gained a thorough understanding of emotion-related difficulties and evidence-based approaches for treating them, such as DBT and EFT.
Approach to Therapy
I take a person-centered, humanistic, and integrative style to therapy where I tailor my approach to each client’s specific needs and goals. Central to my approach is the belief that all clients have the capacity to live their full potential and that mental health is a journey that is unique to each person. I believe that facilitating this journey starts with fostering a strong and collaborative therapeutic relationship that enables clients to feel safe, comfortable, and heard. I have a genuine, warm, and curious therapeutic style, and I seek to create a space where my clients feel empowered to explore their thoughts, feelings, and concerns without judgment. I draw from evidence-based psychotherapies including Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients in their process of healing and self-discovery. I am devoted to fostering an inclusive and respectful space for clients with diverse backgrounds and strives to be an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. I take a culturally humble approach that is open, curious, and willing to learn the complex and multifaceted nature of identity and how it plays an essential role in one’s mental health and healing journey.
